AAP States Arvind Kejriwal to Forego ED Summons in Delhi Jal Board Inquiry

Must read

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has decided to forgo the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding a money laundering investigation linked to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

According to reports from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal will not comply with the Enforcement Directorate summons, deeming them “illegal”. The summons were issued in connection to alleged irregularities within the Delhi Jal Board, as reported by news agency ANI.

The Enforcement Directorate had requested Arvind Kejriwal’s presence at their office on APJ Abdul Kalam Road on March 18 to provide his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Earlier statements from AAP suggested skepticism towards the summons, hinting at a potential “political conspiracy”. The party insinuated that it could be a tactic to impede Kejriwal’s campaigning efforts for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

At a recent press conference, Delhi minister Atishi addressed the issue, stating, “Nobody knows what this Delhi Jal Board (DJB) case is about. This seems to be a backup plan to arrest Kejriwal anyhow and stop him from campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls.”

In addition to the DJB case, Arvind Kejriwal is also under scrutiny in a separate money laundering inquiry related to the Delhi excise policy. He has previously dismissed eight summons in that matter, labeling them as “illegitimate”. The ED has summoned him to appear for questioning on March 21 in connection with the excise policy case.
