4 Army personnel, including an officer, and a cop were killed during a confrontation with heavily armed terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday.
Attack was asserted by ‘Kashmir Tigers’, a shadow group of the Pakistan-backed terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
The encounter transpired when the troops of Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in the Desa forest belt, approximately 55 km from Doda town, late Monday evening.
After a brief exchange of fire, the officials reported that the terrorists attempted to flee but were pursued by the troops led by an officer, despite difficult terrain and dense foliage, resulting in another firefight in the woods at around 9 pm.
Five soldiers were critically wounded in the encounter, and four of them, including the officer, later succumbed to their injuries, the officials confirmed.
