While thousands of residents in Bangalore are grappling with severe water scarcity, Karnataka Congress MLC BK Hariprasad’s claim that there is no serious crisis in the city has sparked outrage.

The leader of Congress party also accused the opposition party (BJP) by saying that the opposition is just trying to play politics of water.

The Congress Spoke person told that during summers we always face issues for two months only by expansion, there is no serious issue like water crisis, we have borewells,tankers.. opposition is just trying to play water politics. Also the spoke person told that BJP are speaking about releasing water for Tamil Nadu, but this is not our job the decision taker on this matter is Central water Commission.

According to the reports in the month of March to May, Bengaluru needs about Eight thousand million cubic feet (TMC) of water, and about 34TMC is in reservoirs currently.

To tackle the crisis, Bangloreans are involementing various measures like using recycled water for washing and cleaning, using unused milk tankers to ferry water,issuing instructions to stop washing cars and balconies with drinking water,and so on.

Govt announces strict measures

Government has announced some measures to prevent water misuse like.”

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) bannned the use of drinking water in swimming pools. VOIators of this order will fae a fine of ₹5000 with an additional penalty of ₹500 per day.

BWSSB issued an order on March 7 banning portable water for non-essential purpose.

BWSSB is taking measures to install filter borewells and construct water plants as over 3,000 borewells have been reported to have dried up in the city.

BWSSB extended the registration deadline of water tanker registration till march 15.

Bengaluru City District Collecter KA Dayanand issued a circular fixing rates for water tankers.
