Today on March 15,2024 the prices of Petrol and Diesel cut by ₹2/Litre.
In a big relief to common people, the Central government has slashed petrol, and Diesel prices across the country ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The Union Ministery of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced the price cut decision on March 14 viaSocial media platform X (Twitter). Itsaid that OMCs have informed the ministry of the revision in prices across the country.
The prices of petrol and diesel remains same since may 2022 after that first times the prices been reduce in the country. In India fuel prices are revised every morning at 6 am. Before June 2017, price revision was done every 15 days.
The prices of petrol and diesel in India is subject to the influences like freight charges, value-added tax (VAT), and local takes, resulting in different rates across states.
Today Rate Changes
In Mumbai, the prices of petrol has fallen by 42 paise and that of diesel by 40 paise. Petrol and diesel have become cheaper by 21 paise iin Uttar Pradesh. The prices has fallen by 17 paise in Rajasthan.

on the other hand the prices of petrol and diesel increased by 19 paise and 18 Paise respectively in Bihar. In Madhya Pradesh the price of petrol increased by 11 paise and diesel by 10 paise on thursday. Apart from this,petrol has become cheaper by 50 paise and diesel by 49 paise in Chhattisgarh. The rates of petrol and diesel have been reduced in Himachal Pradesh. At the same time, the prices of petrol and diesel have also increased in Andhra Pradesh.
After this cut, the prices of petrol in NCR and Delhi is now ₹94.72 per liter, which was earlier ₹96.72 per liter. Whereas diesel prices in Delhi is 87.62 per liter, which was ealier ₹89.62 per liter. Today petrol has become ₹104.21 per liter in Mumbai,₹90.76 in KOlkata and ₹92.34 per liter in chennai.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also announced a 2% reduction in the VAT rate on petrol and diesel in the state, starting from friday. Sharma stated that this VAT cut would provide relief ranging from ₹1.40 to ₹5.30 on petrol and from ₹1.34 to ₹ 4.85 on diesel for buyers.Currently,the Rajasthan government imposes a VAt of 31.04% on petrol and 19.30% on diesel.
