The final results for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India are now known. The Election Commission of India has shared the results for all the areas that voted.
The BJP party won 240 out of 543 seats. The Congress party got 99 seats. Even though the Lok Sabha has 543 members, results were only counted for 542 seats. This is because the BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal from Surat won without anyone running against him.
Narendra Modi will continue as Prime Minister of India. This will be his third time in a row as Prime Minister. The BJP and its partner parties, called the NDA, have more than half the seats in the Lok Sabha. This means they can form the government.
The BJP did not get 272 seats on its own, which is the number needed for a majority. But it will work with the other NDA parties to run the country.
The BJP and NDA did not win by as much as they thought they would. They also did not do as well as the exit polls said they would.
