This was the fifth consecutive defeat of Chennai Super Kings in the current season. CSK made a great start and defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 4 wickets. However, after that, they have gone out of track. CSK has lost five consecutive matches for the first time in IPL history. Also, this is the first time that CSK has lost three consecutive matches at Chepauk in a season. On the other hand, this is Kolkata Knight Riders’ third win in six matches in the current season.

Sunil Narine, who came to open for Kolkata Knight Riders, scored 44 runs in 18 balls, which included 2 fours and five sixes. At the same time, the other opener Quinton de Kock played an innings of 23 runs in 16 balls with the help of three sixes. Captain Ajinkya Rahane returned unbeaten on 20 and Rinku Singh on 15. Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj and spinner Noor Ahmed got one wicket each from Chennai’s side.

In the match, Chennai Super Kings lost the toss and batted first and scored 104 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Chennai batsmen were seen struggling from the beginning on the slow pitch. For CSK, Shivam Dubey scored the highest 31* runs, which included three fours. Apart from Shivam, only Vijay Shankar (29), Rahul Tripathi (16) and Devon Conway (12) reached double figures.

Talking about captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he scored 1 run. Ravindra Jadeja and ‘impact sub’ Deepak Hooda could not open their account. For Kolkata, spinner Sunil Narine took the maximum three wickets. ‘Mystery spinner’ Varun Chakraborty and Harshit Rana got two wickets each. Moeen Ali and Vaibhav Arora got one wicket each.
