Juvenile Justice Board’s Unique Punishment for Drunk Driving Porsche Minor in Pune

Must read

In the city of Pune, there was a case involving a minor who was driving under the influence of alcohol. This minor was driving his expensive Porsche car when he got into a terrible accident that tragically took the lives of two people.

The minor is the son of a very wealthy and prominent real estate developer in Pune. After the accident occurred, the police arrested the minor and charged him with breaking certain laws related to the Indian Penal Code. The police also filed a case against the minor’s father. Additionally, they filed a separate case against the owner of the pub that had served alcohol to the underage minor.

When the case went before the Juvenile Justice Board, the police argued that despite being under 18 years old, the minor driver should be tried as an adult due to the extreme severity of the incident. However, the Juvenile Justice Board ultimately decided to grant bail to the minor, but with some strict conditions attached.

As part of the conditions for his release on bail, the Board mandated that the minor must write a full essay reflecting on the accident and the tragic consequences of his reckless actions while driving under the influence. The essay would require him to take accountability and hopefully learn from this traumatic experience.

In addition to the essay, the Board also ordered that the minor must spend 15 days working with the traffic police unit in the Yerawada area. During this time, he would get first-hand experience of witnessing the realities of what traffic police officers deal with regarding reckless driving incidents.

Furthermore, the minor was also instructed to undergo counseling to treat any potential alcohol abuse issues he may have. He was told he must receive psychiatric counseling as well to help address any underlying mental health factors that may have contributed to his poor decisions that fateful night.

The names of the two people who so senselessly lost their lives in this accident were Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. By imposing such stringent conditions, the Juvenile Justice Board aimed to ensure the minor understood the immense consequences of his actions and would hopefully learn from this tragedy to become a more responsible citizen moving forward.
