As the investigation into the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College continues, Resident Doctors’ Associations (RDAs) in Delhi plan to hold a joint protest march on Friday, August 16, starting from Nirman Bhavan. The march is set to begin at 2 pm. The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) convened an emergency meeting on Thursday to address the incident and decided to organize a candlelight march at India Gate at 5 pm today.

Massive protests have erupted across the country in response to the horrific crime in Kolkata, with doctors demanding a thorough investigation and strict punishment for those involved. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lead a protest rally on Saturday, August 17, calling for justice for the victim. The rally will take place from Moulali to Dharmatala in Kolkata.

The body of the 31-year-old trainee doctor was discovered partially unclothed in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on Friday morning. Police reports indicate the incident occurred between 3 am and 5 am. The autopsy revealed that the victim had been sexually assaulted before being strangled and suffocated. The report noted bleeding from her eyes and mouth, along with multiple injuries to her face, nails, abdomen, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips. There were also signs of bleeding from her private parts.
