Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Voting Live – Polling Happening in 96 Seats

Voting is going on at 96 parliamentary seats in phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. These seats are in 9 states and 1 union territory. Voting started at 7am and will end at 6pm.

Around 40% voter turnout was seen till 1pm across 10 states, as per the Election Commission of India. West Bengal had 51.87% turnout, highest. Then Madhya Pradesh at 48.52%, Jharkhand 43.80%, Uttar Pradesh 39.68% and Bihar 34.44%.

In Jammu and Kashmir, voting is happening in Srinagar seat of Kashmir Valley. This is the first Lok Sabha election in Kashmir after Article 370 was removed in 2019. Srinagar saw around 23.57% turnout till 1pm. In 2019, it was only 14.43%.

Seats voting in this phase are: All 25 in Andhra Pradesh, 17 in Telangana, 13 in Uttar Pradesh, 11 in Maharashtra, 8 in West Bengal, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 5 in Bihar, 4 each in Jharkhand & Odisha and 1 in Jammu & Kashmir.

Famous actors Allu Arjun, Jr NTR & Chiranjeevi were among the first to vote on Monday.

PM Modi appealed to people, especially youth and women, to vote in large numbers to strengthen democracy as phase 4 polling began.

379 constituencies’ fate will be decided after today’s voting. In phase 3 on May 7, voter turnout was 65.68%, 1.32% less than 2019.

BJP’s Amit Shah said in an interview that BJP-allies have already crossed 190 seats and will achieve the 400+ target of 543 Lok Sabha seats.

1,717 candidates are contesting the 96 seats voting today. Key candidates include Akhilesh Yadav, Mahua Moitra, cricketers Yusuf Pathan & Adhir Chaudhary, Giriraj Singh, YS Sharmila, Arjun Munda, Shatrughan Sinha, Bandi Sanjay & Asaduddin Owaisi.

Over 17.7 crore people can vote, including 8.97 crore men, 8.73 crore women and 12.49 lakh aged 85+. 19 lakh polling staff deployed at 1.92 lakh booths.

Voting also for all 175 Andhra and 28/147 Odisha assembly seats along with Lok Sabha polls.

Remaining phases on May 20, 25 and June 1. Counting on June 4.
