Mamata Banerjee Slams Modi for Spreading Lies About Sandeshkhali

Must read

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for telling untruths about Sandeshkhali. She told the prime minister to stop pretending to be sad as the BJP’s scheme has been exposed after a recent sting operation.

Earlier, the Trinamool Congress party released a video (which could not be independently verified) showing a man claiming to be the BJP branch president in Sandeshkhali. He was heard saying that Suvendu Adhikari (the Opposition Leader in West Bengal Assembly) asked him and other BJP leaders to persuade three or four local women to make false rape allegations against three TMC leaders, including Shajahan Sheikh.

“Did anyone think BJP would stoop so low to spread rumors about Sandeshkhali? Don’t dishonor the mothers of West Bengal by making such terrible allegations. Don’t try to disrespect women by offering them money for false claims against our party,” Mamata Banerjee said at an election rally in Bolpur.

Reacting to the alleged viral video, TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee said people should vote against those who want to tarnish West Bengal’s image. The Diamond Harbour MP urged people to defeat those demeaning and defaming Bengal for a few votes.

Calling it a Sandeshkhali conspiracy, the TMC leader said, “See the state of BJP…They said a lot about Sandeshkhali, but yesterday everyone saw that video. It proved this was done to humiliate Bengal’s people…By giving women ₹2,000 each, BJP leaders asked them to lie and make false complaints…The BJP branch president in Sandeshkhali, Gangadhar Kayal, is admitting this himself.”
