A 23-year-old pregnant woman was killed, her arms and legs severed, and her mutilated body set ablaze in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district yesterday. Reena Tanwar’s family has accused her husband Mithun and his family of torturing her for dowry.
The tragedy occurred in Tandi Khurd village within the Kalipeeth police station jurisdiction. Reena’s family reported that a villager informed them yesterday about her murder. When her father Ramprasad Tanwar arrived at Tandi Khurd with police, they discovered that her in-laws had escaped, leaving behind her burning pyre.
The family extinguished the fire and recovered her partially burned body, which was then wrapped in cloth and sent for a post-mortem examination.
Reena Tanwar married Mithun Tanwar five years ago. She had a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and was four months pregnant with her second child.
“Her in-laws had been harassing my daughter and demanding money,” claimed Ramprasad Tanwar.
