The Calcutta High Court has now handed over the investigation to the CBI.

The family of the 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was tragically raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, shared the distressing experience they faced upon receiving the news. They were initially informed that their daughter had died by suicide and were forced to wait outside the hospital for three hours before being allowed to see her body.

Lallantop, a sister channel of India Today TV, interviewed the parents and relatives of the victim. The father of the trainee doctor mentioned that as soon as he received a call from the hospital, he sensed that something had happened to his daughter.

“She (pointing to his wife) began to weep. The hospital authorities informed us that our daughter had died by suicide and that we needed to come right away,” he recounted.

“We ask everyone who visits us to help us get justice. Our daughter can never be brought back, but we can still fight for justice on her behalf,” he added.

Sources revealed to India Today TV that the Assistant Superintendent of the Chest Medicine Wing at RG Kar Hospital was the first to notify the victim’s family about the incident. The Assistant Superintendent reportedly informed them that she had taken her own life within the hospital premises, according to the sources.
