The last part of the Lok Sabha elections started today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the important leaders running in this part.
At 1pm, 40% of people had voted in seven states and Chandigarh. Bihar had the lowest number of voters at just over 35%. Himachal Pradesh had the highest at 48.6%.
Voting is happening in 57 areas across seven states and Chandigarh. This will decide who wins out of 904 candidates. The election campaigns ended on Thursday with big rallies across the country.
Thirteen seats each in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, nine in West Bengal, eight in Bihar, six in Odisha, four in Himachal Pradesh, three in Jharkhand, and one seat in Chandigarh are having elections today.
Besides PM Modi, who is running from Varanasi, other important BJP candidates are Anurag Thakur from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib in Bihar, and actor Kangana Ranaut from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
Congress leader Manish Tewari is running from Chandigarh. Vikramaditya Singh is running from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. Ajay Rai is running from Varanasi. Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee is running from Diamond Harbour.
