Evasion caught in the campaign
To detect fake registrations, central and state GST officials conducted two special drives from May to August in 2023 and August to October in 2024. In the first drive against fake registrations, 21,808 non-existent GSTINs were found and tax evasion of Rs 24,357 crore was detected. Eight people were arrested in this connection. In the second drive, 68,393 non-existent GSTINs were found and tax evasion of Rs 25,346 crore was detected. 19 people were arrested.
