At least 18 people lost their lives and 19 were injured when a double-decker sleeper bus collided with a milk tanker on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Bangarmau Kotwali area of Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district on Wednesday.
The police stated that the double-decker sleeper bus was en route from Motihari in Bihar to Delhi when it crashed into the milk tanker from behind on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi mentioned that initial observations suggested the bus was speeding, as reported by PTI.
Unnao DM Gaurang Rathi said, “Today at around 05:15 am, a private bus traveling from Motihari, Bihar, collided with a milk tanker. 18 people have lost their lives and 19 others are injured in the accident. After the initial investigation, it appears that the bus was speeding. The injured are receiving treatment.”
The news agency ANI reported, citing Behtamujawar Police, that all the injured were admitted to CHC Bangarmau for treatment. Necessary actions are being taken, including taking custody of the bodies.
