It was a disappointing end to the IPL 2024 season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. They lost the final match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
During the season, the Sunrisers team led by Pat Cummins impressed fans and experts with their powerful batting. They scored over 250 runs twice. But in the final, their opening batters Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head did not score many runs. Sunrisers were all out for just 113 runs.
In response, KKR easily chased down the target. Venkatesh Iyer hit a brilliant half-century for KKR.
After the match, the Sunrisers owner Kavya Maran was very upset and could not hold back her tears. She gave an emotional speech to the Sunrisers players and staff.
Kavya said, “You all made us so proud. I had to come tell you that. You redefined how we play T20 cricket and everyone is talking about us now. You had an off day today, but you did great with batting and bowling.”
She added, “Even though we finished last last year, so many fans supported us this time because of your potential. Everyone is still talking about our style of play, even though KKR won. We played the finals – all teams were watching us. Thank you so much.”
In the end, KKR defeated SRH by 8 wickets to win the IPL 2024 title.
