Apple has introduced its new M6 and M5 Ultra chips for Mac computers. The new chips offer faster performance, improved graphics and stronger capabilities for AI-related tasks.
M6: Faster and More Efficient
The M6 is Apple’s first chip built using 2nm technology. It comes with:
- 12-core CPU
- 12-core GPU
- Dual 16-core Neural Engine for AI tasks
- Up to 32GB unified memory
- Up to 170GB/s memory bandwidth
Apple says the M6 offers faster performance than older M-series chips while maintaining good power efficiency. It is designed for everyday users, students, developers and creative professionals.
M5 Ultra: Apple’s Most Powerful Chip
The M5 Ultra is designed for demanding professional work. It can offer:
- Up to 36-core CPU
- Up to 80-core GPU
- Up to 512GB unified memory
- 32-core Neural Engine
- Up to 1.2TB/s memory bandwidth
It is built for heavy tasks such as 3D rendering, video editing, visual effects, scientific work and running large AI models locally.
Summary
The M6 focuses on delivering faster performance and better AI capabilities for everyday and professional users. The M5 Ultra, on the other hand, is aimed at users who need extreme power for demanding creative, professional and AI workloads.
